MOED de ARMAS & SHANNON Architects
This 36-story, 825,000 square foot glass and steel tower built in 1949 had been limping along, depending on obsolete building systems. Charged by SL Green with managing an ambitious transformation, Moed de Armas & Shannon combined form and function by simultaneously overhauling the building's aesthetics and core building systems. The exterior overclad features a glass curtain wall facing Park Avenue and aluminum composite metal panels on the north and south facades, emphasizing the tower's sleek surface. 100 Park remained fully occupied during the re-skinning process, which demanded the utmost precision in design and execution. MdeAS delivered a truly transformed building, earning LEED Silver certification and winning BOMA's Renovated Office Building of the Year award at the International level.
