540 MADISON AVENUE
Expanding the retail footprint on Manhattan's second-most prominent retail street, 540 Madison Avenue involved a 2-story retail addition, functioning as a new building, at the tower's base as well as a renovated lobby and improved building identification. The lobby was relocated to the side-street to maximize the retail frontage on Madison Avenue while also providing a more exclusive entry for the building's high-profile tenants. The wood-paneled entry lobby leads to a glass screen wall separating the elevator banks from the entry lobby, continuing the theme of privacy and seclusion. Giving the space a museum quality, a metal feature wall serves as a backdrop for a collection of John Chamberlain sculptures.
