1221 Avenue of the Americas

Located in the heart of Midtown, 1221 Avenue of the Americas stands as a monument to modernity and design. The recent renovations to the lobby, exterior and side-street plazas have streamlined and enhanced the aesthetic of the building. MdeAS’ renovations have brought forth a sense of continuity from the entry to the lobby, installing floor-to-ceiling windows on the exterior to flood the interior with natural light and create a grand, yet inviting space. In addition, the 48th and 49 Street plazas have been transformed with trees, improved lighting and benches to promote public use and to establish an outdoor urban space within the business center of New York City.

The Urban Grid of Manhattan

1221 Avenue of the Americas highlights the artwork of Mark Bradford in a focal corridor connecting the north and south entryways. The dispatched work of art, “Elgin Gardens” – two 22.5-foot-high blended media establishments delineating the framework of Manhattan – highlights the size of the space. Two 20-foot-long marble tables welcome visitors to wait and appreciate the workmanship in an exhibition setting.
