477 Madison Avenue

Built in 1953, 477 Madison Avenue is a 24-story office building on the corner of 51st Street and Madison Avenue. MdeAS worked closely with the client to execute a strategic redevelopment that modernized the building while maintaining its architectural character. This program features a thoughtful window replacement, a refreshed façade, and activated outdoor spaces, simultaneously reinvigorating the street presence while improving the tenant experience on each floor.

Unparalleled Views

A classic, wedding-cake style building, 477 Madison’s ziggurat profile inherently offers a series of terrace setbacks. MdeAS opened the previously inaccessible spaces and enhanced the views with new glass railings. These private terraces have uninterrupted sightlines to iconic NYC landmarks – an unheard-of amenity for a 24-story office building in Midtown.

“477 Madison is surrounded by several New York City icons, the Look Building at 488 Madison, St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Villard House, with Rockefeller Center in the distance. The building’s terraced setbacks offer first-row balcony seats to this part of the city.” - Jeff Ellerbrock
