Dan is a nationally-recognized leader in commercial design for new and redeveloped buildings and principal at MdeAS. With over three decades of experience, he provides creative, innovative architectural solutions; making him instrumental in the firm’s overall approach to design. His clear commitment to the philosophy of modernism and urbanism enlivens a building’s presence with integrity.

Dan’s effective leadership and project management transcends the firm with a reputation for meeting the client’s goals by working closely with them through the design process. Setting a high-standard for craft within architecture, Dan’s eye for detail is reflected in every project he manages. He has worked alongside international developers to oversee the construction of more than 15 million square feet, including the renovation of the GM Building, winner of a 2007 MASterworks Award, and the redevelopment of 100 Park Avenue, recognized in 2009 as BOMA’s International Renovated Building of the Year. Most recently, “The Cubes,” at 120 West 42nd Street won the AIA’s Award of Excellence of Commercial Large Projects and received the Outstanding Project Award from the GNYCUC.

Raul is a founding principal of MdeAS, establishing Moed de Armas Architects in 1991. Recognized internationally as one of the world’s preeminent design architects, Raul has designed and completed many major buildings in the United States, Europe, Canada and the Middle East. In his career of more than 50 years he has won numerous design awards, including the prestigious Aga Khan Award for Architecture and was named Interiors Magazine’s “Designer of the Year” (1984).

MICHAEL ZABORSKI

Mike, a principal at MdeAS, is both a conceptual and pragmatic thinker who consistently and creatively brings design concept into reality. Whether overseeing projects or mentoring the architecture staff, he promotes and evolves MdeAS' commitment to sustainability and craft in architecture and planning. Since joining the firm in 1998, he has worked on a diverse range of projects including master plans, commercial buildings, retail, residential and mixed-use developments, curtain wall re-clad and over-clad, as well as lobby expansions and renovations.­­ A selection of recently completed projects include the re-cladding of tower and podium at First Canadian Place in Toronto, Canada, renovation of 650 California Street in San Francisco, over-cladding and repositioning of 330 Madison Avenue in New York City, Gotham Center Building B2 (Department of Health) in Long Island City, Queens and “The Cubes” at 120 West 42nd Street in NYC, winner of the 2013 NYS AIA Award of Excellence, Commercial Large Projects.

Since joining MdeAS in 2004, Jeff has built a reputation as an efficient and reliable project architect with an innate design sense. He understands the importance of refined details and confidently secures the client’s goals throughout the design and construction process. Jeff is committed to bringing fresh ideas and energy to the firm and maintains connections with top colleges and universities along with recruiting new talent. Recently completed projects include the renovation of 237 Park Avenue Avenue and 1411 Broadway plaza, as well as the complete transformation of 900 19th Street and 2000 K Street in Washington, D.C.

As a director and project manager, Daniela has been instrumental in the design and execution of some of the firm’s most prominent projects. Her progressive design perspective and fascination with technological innovations and meticulous architectural detailing led her to a leadership position overseeing the MdeAS material research library, through which she inspires a continuous search for the most advanced, innovative and sustainable materials and processes. Since joining the firm in 2008, Daniela has developed a comprehensive understanding of New York City's Landmarks Preservation Commission and the Department of City Planning. Recently completed projects include the renovation of 330 Madison Avenue, 7 West 34th Street, and 43-08 Crescent Street in Long Island City, as well as the substantial lobby and plaza transformation at 1221 Avenue of the Americas.

BERTRAM DOERFLER
       
     
BERTRAM DOERFLER

Bertram joined MdeAS in 2004, quickly established himself an expert in rendering and digital visualization. Leading the studio in technical design, he oversees the design process as project architect, upholding the MdeAS standard of quality and innovation.

Bertram’s knowledge in curtainwall design, detailing and construction has been instrumental in the completion of two major curtainwall projects: 330 Madison Avenue, a full building re-clad, and 510 Madison Avenue, a ground-up 30-story tower. His understanding of structural detail is apparent in the seamless design of his work.

KATE ZYDEL

Kate joined the MdeAS team in 2011, parlaying an anthropology degree into a role all things architecture, engineering and construction. As the firm’s Director of Marketing, she wears many hats, balancing business development, marketing and public relations. Kate counts on her skills to keep up with the fact that no two days are ever the same.
