Mike Zaborski
Principal
Mike, a principal at MdeAS, is both a conceptual and pragmatic thinker who consistently and creatively brings design concepts into reality. Whether overseeing projects or mentoring the architecture staff, he promotes and evolves MdeAS' commitment to sustainability and craft in architecture and planning.
Since joining the firm in 1998, he has worked on a diverse range of projects including master plans, commercial buildings, retail, residential and mixed-use developments, curtain wall re-clad and over-clad, as well as lobby expansions and renovations.
Most recently Mike completed the repositioning of PENN 1 & PENN 2. The complete renovation of the combined 4.4 million SF of office, retail, entertainment, and transportation space is the catalyst for the transformation of the PENN DISTRICT. He also recently completed the revitalization of the MetLife Building at 200 Park Avenue, honored as Best Large Commercial Lobby & Amenity Space by Interior Design Magazine in 2022. Over the past decade he has also worked to complete the 3.5 million SF mixed-use master plan, Gotham Center, in Long Island City comprised of the Department of Health building completed in 2011, and The JACX, which won Best Large Commercial Lobby & Amenity Space by Interior Design Magazine in 2021, as well as numerous landscape and architecture awards including Architizer’s Best High-Rise Office Building and Best New Commercial Facility from the AIA Long Island.
A selection of completed projects includes the re-cladding of tower and podium at First Canadian Place in Toronto, Canada, renovation of 650 California Street in San Francisco, over-cladding and repositioning of 330 Madison Avenue in New York City, and “The Cubes” at 120 West 42nd Street in NYC, winner of the 2013 NYS AIA Award of Excellence, Commercial Large Projects.
